Five Great Lessons You Can Learn From Millennials.

It’s exhausting being bold and daring all the time.

With that in mind, millennials are coming across now more than ever as overly sensitive, with double standards to infinity, persnickety (ehh?) about everything and even as I type this, I am pondering over what will come across as hypocritical yet simultaneously insightful.

Literally everything is now coming along as judgmental. So, without further ado, here are 5 lessons you can learn from millennials, to be more tolerant, and yet not want to mentally stab each other for no reason.

  1. YES we consider more options before making a judgement. NO we don’t necessarily value each of them when making the final decision. As in “yes, being a carnivore is bad and evil, but meat tastes good” BUT “regardless, we will moan about no one being tolerant of it BUT still go to irresistible Nando’s.  What do we learn from this: Meat is nice but so is killing animals more humanly.
  2. Buying Unicorn Frappuccinos is not a weird vanity, poser, narcissistic mean girls thing. If it’s limited to only being around for one day, then there’s no reason to not document this moment in history on Instagram, because it’s here today and gone tomorrow. What do we learn from this: Anything that is exclusive or limited regardless of how ridiculous it looks or tastes, should be snapped and Insta’d because it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and even though its kinda gross tasting with 50k calories, it’s another cute picture and something to tell the grandchildren.
  3. Just because we are snap happy, posing ridiculously and making selfies non stop – doesn’t mean we are airheads and full of ourselves! Sure there are less flamboyant and more subtle ways to pose and document our daily lives, but most of the time we are thinking, that if something looks cute/original/innovative, there’s no reason, for us not to take a picture of it. What do we learn from this? In our heads everyone should actually be snapping way more. If you think otherwise, then that’s cool, but no need to judge us just because we are admiring it.
  4. Overly critical, super sensitive and judgement more and more. Yes! Aside from star-signs, the sensitive thing and the millennial lifestyle are becoming more intertwined than ever before. Actually it’s kinda gross. It’s hard to see a positive side of this. It’s becoming worse every day. What everyone used to turn a blind eye to, is now the exact opposite, and everything done/said/worn/viewed – you name it – is now excruciatingly painfully analyzed. “Jumping on the bandwagon” more than ever before. What we can learn from this … Ahh this is good. The #metoo trending hashtag is an ideal and positive look on this. Without women speaking up and all of a sudden every single experience or words said in the least bit of controversial way (does that make sense?) – without these women speaking up, this whirlwind of confronting all the men who did these things, would have never reached the status it is now.
  5. (WOW this is exhausting and emotionally draining to write about) All of a sudden, what used to be considered as a second goal, or an alternative achievement, has become the priority. 10 or 20 years ago, we wrote in our diaries, that by the age of 30 we’d like to be settled down, with kids and a house and all the rest of it. Frankly (OK I am speaking for myself here) but yes, I honestly cannot think of anything worse than being chained to a kitchen, having to look after kids, being responsible for a whole life besides my own, and putting someones else above me in regards to my own happiness.  What can we learn from this? It’s hard to accept all of that when you’re in your teens. It’s difficult to think or say that out loud when we were in our younger years. Traditional lifestyle – call it what you want – is changing and needs to hurry the hell up so that generation Y,Z and the rest won’t have to always have pressure on them to “settle down”.

Pop culture reference!

Today, I cannot imagine “Bright Kauffman Crane” the creators and producers of F.R.I.E.N.D.S would never in a million years now ever want to make new episodes. The sheer intensiveness of being overly critical of every line in one episode would kill it in an instant. Remember that one episode where ehh… take your pick; Ross wears leather patches so he’s against cows, or Joey makes fun of jazz hands or whatever so he’s probably racist. I literally could pick ten things out of every episode that would potentially kick start a debate on political correctness. It’s EXHAUSTING. No wonder they don’t want to do a movie or a remake.
