It’s OK not to be the cool kid. (Thanks Kanye)
A while ago, Kanye West launched his own clothing line. He had a whole bunch of bizarre and ridiculous rules for his models when they are wearing his clothes.
Distinctly I remember one of them saying words along the line of “don’t try to look cool”
I don’t know how Kanye’s mind works, nor am I sure he talks about this with his therapist (fun fact – I am NOT his therapist) but I do believe he was on to something.
Back in the 90’s and 00’s being the cool kid was what everyone wanted. Apparently in 2017 , being the cool kid is not what we all dream of…according to Kanye.
Baring in mind, the models were standing in scorching hot temperatures , and several articles went viral about his conditions for the models to be in.
But, despite all of his extremities, I do believe he was on to something. We are more tolerable than ever. We stand up more to speak our minds. Everyone is over-analyzing everything, no more jumping on the bandwagon, forget being called sensitive, (or even insensitive)
Everyone seems to have gone super left wing on anything , and even being called a liberal, over rules being called anything else.
Never though I’d see the day that all of this beats being the cool kid, who everyone wanted to be friends with, purely because they were cool because they were in charge and they were dictating how things go in a cafeteria or playground.
Alternative and mainstream have met somewhere in the middle, and what was once considered to be overly opinionated has turned into the normality.
Last thought. I remember a movie with Amanda Bynes where she hops on a plane off to somewhere tropical with her fave pop star. Her parents are in the kitchen talking about jetting off to Indonesia and they seem like people who are laid back nudists , more so “alternative parenting” in a nutshell.
That was maybe 10 years ago? (I’m off to IMDB in a minute) And yet now, jetting off to Asian countries, is actually the most popular holiday destinations. Who HASN’t yet been to Thailand?
Off to IMDB for some fact checking.
