Where did Candy Crush, Farmville, Restaurant City and all the rest go?
Back in the days when most of us were just finishing high school (or maybe the older range were just finishing college) , there was a few weeks when we logged on to FB , and there were miles and miles of these cute “punny” pages to follow.
Presumably it was the cold side of the pillow page that started it all. The “old skool” Facebook is where it really started to thrive. Back when if there was a birthday party coming up , it was all about creating an event page and finding the right pics. Or making those notes with the quizzes and first letter of your name surveys.
By no means do we miss the never ending requests to join you on your candy crushing, but already it has become a habit to reminisce of the earlier stages of Facebook, when we would find a picture of all the Disney characters and tag all of our friends (who still does that?)
Today it seems, Facebook has just become one huge big money making machine, and what was once a “SOCIAL” network , has really just become an industry tool for a new way of outreach and getting your word out there.
It’s virtually impossible to make a Facebook page successful now if you wanted to do it organically. One of the first things it does, if you are creating a page from scratch , is “to create a post to boost”.
It’s best to end on a high note. We got a lot out of it all, made new friends, found amazing apartments, applied for jobs, attended events (without actually attending the event), all at the click of a button. Here’s to Facebook, to bringing us all together, and hoping that the best is yet to come.
