The Twisted Truth Behind The Headhunters

Being on the other side of the fence when it comes to job applications isn’t a pretty site.

This is what their office looks like. A white board, with key words (that were in the original job posting) etched on it in red marker to spell it out clearly enough for all to see. Verruca Salt’s father having his peanut factory staff shelling chocolate bars, springs to mind.

Essentially, they are going over all the applications with a fine tooth comb and evaluating your resume for the criteria that they are on the prowl for. If you have what they are looking for, and if you can highlight it well enough, then you will be short listed, and it moves onward and upwards from there.

Sounds simple enough right? If you really spell it out and emphasize that you have all they are looking for, then BOOM, you are in the fast track lane to being interviewed.

On the other hand, if  your CV has blurbs driveling on about how rewarding your current position is and we cannot see any straight out value that you can bring, we don’t waste another second trying to sift through it all.

Beware of HEADHUNTERS:

On a team of headhunters,  with a more industrial level set out for them, they will have an automated system handpicking keywords out of your CV and if they can sift through it finely enough, then you’re in the run for the finishing line.

Seeing job applications from both angles is a fascinating thing.

It really puts it all into perspective. No matter how much you want it, or even if you really do your homework and get all the background info on the organization, the recruitment process is an algorithm now. It consists of narrowing  down, to pin pointing criteria, and avoiding all the haystacks in the way of finding a bright shiny needle under it all.
